General Information About Membership
A Pledge in Beta Upsilon Chi is a title conferred upon any male Texas Christian University student who expresses a desire to develop his relationship with Jesus Christ and who wishes to participate in a one-semester period of preparation and training in the ideals and purposes of Beta Upsilon Chi. Pledges become full active members after successfully meeting all requirements of new membership.
Active membership in Beta Upsilon Chi carries all rights and privileges of the fraternity. Active membership is open to any male Texas Christian University student who expresses a desire to develop his relationship with Jesus Christ and who successfully completes the period of new membership.
Alumni membership is granted to all who have held active membership in Beta Upsilon Chi upon leaving the fraternity.
Purpose of the Pledge Program
The pledge program of Beta Upsilon Chi serves several purposes. Being a pledge is designed to:
- Introduce new members to Beta Upsilon Chi
- Unify new members with each other and with the active fraternity members spiritually, physically, and academically
- Build Christ-like character in the new members
- Give the new member and the chapter a trial period with each other and to give the new member a definite opportunity to decide whether or not to accept the invitation of the chapter to become an active member
